At The Pied Piper, we offer an extensive range of solutions for bird control. We have helped hundreds of residential and commercial customers with their pigeon problems for over 25 years. We have a number of different ways of controlling pigeon problems. These include netting, spiking, fire gel, and trapping. Pigeons can pose a serious health hazard to us humans, but are also capable of doing irreparable damage to buildings by blocking guttering and exploiting gaps and holes in the roof where they can take up home and nest over long periods of time. Pigeons problems should be dealt with as soon as possible.
At The Pied Piper, we offer a range of pigeon control solutions including netting, spikes, optical gel, trapping and more. Every pigeon problem is different and we will usually need to carry out a survey to ensure that the correct proofing, cleaning and safety methods will be employed.
Ignoring problems with pigeons will only lead to an increased cost in resolving future issues.
Fouling and contamination – Air conditioning systems and other water sources can easily become contaminated, with associated risks to health.
Flooding problems – Rainwater gutters can become blocked by droppings and associated debris, causing overflowing and leaking guttering with the potential damage to walls and roofs.
Noise and disturbance – Can sometimes be a problem from Pigeons that are roosting in and around your property. Not only for the residents of the building but for neighbours as well.
Health risks and serious illnesses – Pigeons are considered a common pest and their droppings can give rise to diseases such as Ornithosis, Salmonella and E.Coli.
Accidents – Droppings on pavements and fire escapes that can be dangerous when wet, thereby creating a slip hazard and possible legal action.
Damage to buildings – Pigeons droppings which contain acid that can cause damage to buildings and can also damage the paintwork on cars.
If you are experiencing a pigeon control problem at your business or residential premises then please do not hesitate to contact us. The sooner you call us in, the sooner we can implement a plan of action to eradicate the problem for you. We are one of London’s leading specialists in pigeon control and can offer you a cost-effective solution to combat any issues you are facing.
Bird netting and meshing are an effective, low profile, long-lasting solution to pigeon problems. We have carried out various netting applications at London City Airport and railway stations where spikes and other measures have not been successful. Netting can be installed as it is versatile and can be placed over canopies, light wells and balconies, to name a few. Once in place, the netting prevents pigeons from entering the area without harming them.
Fire gel is a new innovative system using small pots filled with a special optical gel. This is a great option for listed buildings as it does not change the appearance of the structure and cannot be seen from the ground up. The fire gel system keeps birds off all structures without harming them. Used extensively in Europe, fire gel has been somewhat of a revelation in terms of preventing pigeons. It can be used in almost every type of situation and the results are shocking.
Pigeon spikes can be placed on ledges, walls, on top of signage, closed-circuit cameras, gutters and similar structures in order to prevent birds from perching on these surfaces. Pigeon spikes are most common in city centres where feral birds are more common and more likely to come into conflict with humans. We have used pigeon spiking successfully on a number of commercial and residential sites throughout the city. It can provide an instant solution to most the common pigeon problems.
Pigeon trapping in London can be very effective for areas where the number of pigeons need to be drastically reduced. We can also use trapping on large buildings where pigeon deterrents may not be cost-effective. We have carried out many successful trapping programs throughout London and our clients have not had to install any additional costly deterrents. We will always advise you on the best solution for your particular pigeon problem.
We can carry out a shooting program where other systems may have failed, or in an emergency, for example if a pigeon is trapped in a warehouse or food premises and cannot get out. Shooting can help reduce numbers where there is a need to do so quickly.
Post and wire has excellent aesthetic qualities but is only useful for low pressure sites. They are tensioned steel wires fixed by a post, either drilled or stuck to leading edges. They are invaluable in deterring pigeons from landing on pipes. Our post and wire systems are an ideal solution for light to medium pigeon populations. A series of stainless steel wires are installed across the surface that needs to be protected, and once installed the pigeons are unable to land on the protected areas.
